I am Solcial – Not Just Another User

On Web2 social networks, you are the product – on Solcial, you are the platform.

With our recent Q3 update and overall progress report – we’ve heard from many in our community that they are excited to use the platform and begin experiencing what Solcial can be for them. If you’ve been one of our testers, you would already know that Solcial is a platform that is not being made for users to become the product that is sold ads and attention. Instead, Solcial is being made by the users, turning them into partners that own the network and can help shape its future.

This is where the term “I am Solcial” comes from. It signals the fact that YOU the user are what Solcial is. You have the ability to shape the moderation, the features, and what direction Solcial goes in the future. And without YOU, there is no Solcial.

On Web3, the users own and are the platforms

On Web2 platforms users are treated like products. They are fed anything that will keep their attention. This doesn’t matter if it leads to dangerous outcomes, or simply an addiction that reduces their overall quality of life. Some might even enjoy this, but the truth is, the addiction is unhealthy and designed to not bring value, but instead bring revenue to the platforms themselves.

Once again, the usage of  Web2 social networks  is free and you are not paying for any product, because in fact YOU (and all your data) are the product being sold to advertisers, to enrich the web2 platforms.

If we’re being honest, the asset social networks tap into to resell is the most limited resource we all have – our time! Sadly, you do not have a say in the structure of the platform, you cannot request a change for a more healthy algo – you have no control and your value on these platforms is attached to the number of dollars they can make off you. Plain and simple.

On Solcial YOU Create the Future of Web3

When you join Solcial you become a core piece of the platform, and the platform is made of you in return. We are designing Solcial to be meaningfully impacted by the users. When it comes to moderation, the users decide. When it comes to key features, the users decide. Even in aspects of monetization, the users get to decide. This is the way of Web3, and one of the main reasons YOU are Solcial.

The message of “I am Solcial” is accomplished primarily through voting and community governance on the Solcial DAO. This will be a community voting structure built for holders of the Solcial native token, SLCL, and in turn, owners of Solcial. While there are many other ways (upvoting/downvoting, grassroots organizing) for Solcial members to promote changes, the DAO will give direct power to users. They are Solcial and deserve to be heard.

An example of how the community has power can be seen through our tester community. We have been engaging with testers on Solcial since Q2 2022 and incorporating their feedback as we build a social network that users want. This has meant alterations in design, enhanced performance, and new ways for voices to be heard transparently. For them, I am Solcial means they can have their voices heard, and their desires met.

Once we launch Solcial on mainnet, we will see all new ways for users to bring Solcial to the spotlight and be heard when they see a need to be filled. The way of Web2 is for the user to be the product, on Solcial the user is the platform and the value they bring from their content is the product.
